Volunteering can help people connect - not through a screen, but face-to-face - with others from their community. Now more than ever, we have a real need and opportunity to build a culture of social health one interaction at a time. Volunteering is a great way to start. It's also a meaningful way to connect with others and make new friends, which will increase your social support and help you feel your own sense of community.

By interacting with others and "giving something back", volunteering can make up for the loss of meaning that commonly occurs with loneliness. Plus, by volunteering for social causes that are important to us, we gain a sense of purpose which leads to greater psychological well-being and in turn may shield us from negative health outcomes.

What We Offer

At Hampshire Cultural Trust we value every member of our community across Hampshire. Many of our venues simply couldn’t operate without the skill, dedication and time of our volunteers and we’re always looking for new faces to join our happy team.

We therefore provide lots of support to our volunteers to ensure that they know they are valued members of our teams, and that they feel they can do their jobs and get the most out of the experience. As a volunteer you will get:

Training

For every role and location across the Trust we provide you with the tools to do your job. Whether that’s specialist training or simply an induction at the venue you’ve chosen to assist.

Developmental Support

In any role whether paid or not, you want to develop your skillset and learn new things whilst at work. We have the framework in place to help you progress, and we offer lots of support to ensure you get the most out of your position.

Job Variety

We have lots of different types of venues and therefore hundreds of volunteer roles available. You can do something you’re already knowledgeable about such as gardening, or learn about something entirely new. Use our website to search the different roles available near you.

Expand your skills and knowledge

Volunteering is a great way to experience a work environment and develop your skills at places and times that suit you. You’re giving something back to the community whilst learning people, commercial and other skills that look great on your CV.

Daniel's story

They let me be myself when I'm here and I know there's only a couple of places where I feel absolutely comfortable in the world, when I go to work and when I come here. It completely changed my life and I think for me it's about giving back to the community because I know I've taken a lot from the community
