Saturday 11 June 2016 11am-4pm

Singing with others is a very uplifting activity.  As part of the New Forest Arts Festival, come and join us in a community vocal workshop, for a day of fun and making music.  Whether you are a beginner, or a seasoned singer, the workshop is designed for all abilities from age 16+.

Take the opportunity to explore your voice and learn its potential. No need to read music as we will be exploring and learning songs and harmonies by ear. Get the chance to perform harmonies learnt in the workshop in the evening concert featuring The New Forest Orchestra and Lymington-based Encore Choir.

The workshop will be delivered by Alex Silverman, a versatile conductor, performer, composer and choral director.  He has worked with a host of choirs, orchestras and other ensembles as diverse as the English Touring Opera, the Julian Joseph Big Band, and electro-pop outfit Hot Chip, and has been MD of the Southampton-based choir West End Singers since 2010.

Tickets £18 /£16 concs. For more information and to register for your place please contact Angela Jackson on 07729 818356  or email: vocalworkshops@aol.com

Arts Award

Young people can achieve a national qualification called an Arts Award here at Forest Arts Centre.

The award supports young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. It fosters creative, communication and leadership skills and helps to prepare them for further education and employment. So, while learning new skills, meeting new people and having fun … youngsters can also be adding to their CV!

There are bronze, silver and gold Arts Awards, and they are open to all young people aged 11-25. They can choose to gain their award in any art form. This includes all arts and media activities from creative roles such as writing, directing, performing and painting, to technical and support roles such as web design or stage lighting.

Arts Development Officer Jacqueline Goddard is our qualified Arts Award adviser and Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England.
