The Hampshire Cultural Trust is managing the collections on behalf of Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council. One of our fundamental purposes is to acquire and preserve objects as a permanent collection for the general benefit and enjoyment of the people of Hampshire. Many people are extremely generous in offering objects to museums but as we can’t collect everything, each object offered to us has to be assessed to see how it fits into our collection.
What we collect is defined by our Collections Development Policy which can be found here:
If you have an object that you think the Hampshire Cultural Trust would like to collect then please contact us first to discuss it. Any information you have about the object, such as local connections, where it was found or how it was used, will help us to make a decision.
