Museum on the Mezzanine

In addition to the workshops at SEARCH, some led school sessions are offered in the Museum on the Mezzanine. This is a public community museum space without the facilities of SEARCH, so the charge is only £60 per 2-hour workshop.

Please book through SEARCH on 023 9250 1957 or email janet.wildman@hampshireculturaltrust.org.uk

Sessions available:

  • KS1 Seaside Holidays in the Past – Investigate how holidaying on the south coast has changed over time. Penny licks, Punch and Judy, coconut shies, costumes and more. All with real museum collections and lots of fun.

  • KS2 Our Town in the Past – Investigate first hand sources such as census returns, maps, photos and objects, to piece together the history of Gosport and the lives of the people who lived there.

The Museum on the Mezzanine, the Geology Gallery in the Local and Naval Studies Centre, and exhibitions in Gosport Gallery all make a good self-led add-on to a workshop at SEARCH to extend your visit (self-led visits are free, but please BOOK AHEAD).

Cost

£60 for a 2-hour led workshop for up to 34 children
