The performers, who came from around the world, were a wonderful reflection of our usual programming with Chris Wood, Curtis Eller’s American Circus and the Destroyers performing on the same stage as Fatherson, Get Inuit and Black Peaks. Upcoming local musicians including The Harry Baker Band, Joe Booley, Mikey Riley, Two Thirds and Get Plucky (the Westy’s home-grown Ukulele band) also got a chance to perform.
On Saturday afternoon we welcomed families into the venue to enjoy the live music and free arts and crafts activities – including the perennially popular ‘throw a wobbler’ potter’s wheel! Everyone had a wonderful time and we’d love to thank our sponsors – Hop Art Brewery and Cooper Baillie, our team, our wonderful volunteers and colleagues who helped promote the event.
We've already booked Holy Moly and the Crackers as our Friday night headliners and the Xcerts for Saturday. For the first time ever the Summer Westival will feature comedy on the Friday night too, with a separate comedy stage and Gein's Family Giftshop already confirmed. This year we've got a special early bird price for the Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday sessions that costs just £55 and includes three free drinks - saving you at £17 (depending on what you drink of course - the early bird ticket drink voucher entitles you to either a pint of draught beer or cider, a single shot and mixer, large glass of wine or soft drink). The early bird ticket offer has been extended until Wednesday 1 March and can be purchased online, by calling 01252 330040 or in person at the Westy.
We will post updates and information as soon as possible, here and on our Summer Westival Facebook page. If you would like to get involved in the 2017 Summer Westival, either as a performer or a volunteer, please email us.
